Advantages of leasing any commercial vehicle can vary and be dependent on the circumstances of your company or situation. You have likely heard "leasing provides a better tax write off" or "leasing is more expensive".

Either can be true, however in most business applications leasing can provide a less costly alternative, even to paying cash up front in some cases. Understanding some simple dynamics of leasing can help get you on the right track to which option is best for you. For example, when financing any new vehicle, in virtually all cases the minimum required down payment would be no less than the taxes due on the vehicle at delivery. In this example you would be left with an outstanding balance equal to the original cost of the vehicle. In contrast, when using a lease format, taxes are not due up front so if you use a down payment equal to the up front tax amount, the outstanding balance will be reduced by that same amount. This means the amount both financed and any point there after will be considerably less, an advantage to lease.
